Avoid asbestos exposure by carrying out an asbestos survey

Allweather have had extensive, hands on asbestos training and experience at asbestos operative level, before progressing through the company. Their extensive on-site experience gives them an excellent level of competence and insight into where potential Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) can be found.

Experienced and qualified asbestos surveyors

All of our Asbestos Surveyors are fully qualified to current industry standards (BOHS P402) and have experience of surveying potentially hazardous asbestos in many types and sizes of properties, from small residential flats to large industrial buildings.

Allweather offer all types of asbestos surveys including asbestos management, refurbishment and asbestos demolition surveys, and periodic asbestos inspections (as required by the asbestos register).

Asbestos Management Surveys

An Asbestos Management Survey is the standard survey required on any building built or refurbished before 2000. Its purpose is to locate as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect ACM in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to access their condition.

Following completion of your management survey, you will be provided with a report detailing the location and properties of any asbestos found within the building.

Our Asbestos Management Surveys will include a risk assessment of the condition of the various Asbestos Containing Materials found and their ability to release fibres into the air if they are disturbed in some way. This will give you a good initial guide to the priority for managing Asbestos Containing Materials as it will identify the materials that will most readily release airborne fibres if they are disturbed.

Refurbishment & asbestos demolition surveys

Refurbishment and demolition surveys will be necessary when the building (or part of it) is to be upgraded, refurbished or demolished and should be carried out before any refurbishment or demolition work commences.

A refurbishment and demolition survey may also be necessary when intrusive maintenance or repair work is required or plant is to be removed or dismantled. Refurbishment and demolition surveys are intended to locate all the asbestos in the building (or the relevant part), as far as is reasonably practicable.

Refurbishment and demolition surveys are fully intrusive and involve destructive inspection, as necessary. Therefore, they should only be carried out in specific locations where refurbishment or demolition is planned. A refurbishment and demolition survey to targeted areas of a building can be carried out in conjunction with a management survey.

The refurbishment and demolition survey reports will include full results of all materials sampled or presumed to contain asbestos, a full list and description of all areas inspected, annotated plans and conclusions.

Periodic asbestos inspections as required by the asbestos register

To manage the risks from the presence of asbestos, Allweather will carry out periodic re-inspections at every property where asbestos containing materials are known to be present, to ensure that they have not been disturbed and are still in a safe condition. During each re-inspection, the Asbestos Surveyor will complete an Asbestos Management Re-inspection Form and provide details of any recommendations (i.e. a recommendation for repair, encapsulation or removal).

All Asbestos samples are tested at an independent UKAS Accredited Laboratory. We can provide surveyors throughout London and all of the South East. Get in touch via our contact form or by calling 01273 388088 today to find out more and to book a survey.
